Audit Partner, Amy Boland, CPA has been named the new Director of Audit Services at GRF CPAs & Advisors (GRF). Effective June 1, 2022, Ms. Boland succeeds Terri M. McKnight, CPA, who has led the audit department at GRF since 2002.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Amy since day one,” said Ms. McKnight. “Over the years, I have been impressed with her technical knowledge, professionalism, and client service acumen, combined with her passion for the nonprofit community and supporting women in the accounting industry.”
Ms. Boland has worked in public accounting since 1994 specializing in audits of nonprofit organizations. Her clients include associations, international NGOs, private foundations, and other charitable institutions that span a wide variety of cause areas. Although Amy maintains a large book of business, she has made time over the years to contribute significant thought leadership to the industry. Recently, much of her time was spent creating content focused on helping nonprofit organizations prepare for implementation of the new accounting standards. During the pandemic, Ms. Boland served on the firm’s COVID-19 task force assisting nonprofit organizations applying for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. As a knowledgeable and trusted advisor, clients lean on her to provide training to board members and staff on nonprofit finance best practices.
Her public service commitment has included tenure on the board of the American Association for Suicidology for nearly 15 years, holding the positions of treasurer and chair of the audit and finance committee. Ms. Boland has been a valuable sounding board for governance and succession planning, and she led strategic planning sessions and retreats for the organization over the years. In addition to her board service, she excels as a contributor to humanitarian causes in her work with GRF’s international non-governmental organization (INGO) clients. Ms. Boland travels around the world to work with clients who receive US funding to deliver programs that improve the lives of people and their communities with clean drinking water, better access to healthcare, and improved educational opportunities among others.
A role model for the next generation of women in accounting, Ms. Boland believes in the importance role women play in shaping the future of the accounting profession to be inclusive of women as well as other minority groups based on ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, disabilities, lifestyle, education, and marital and or parental status. As the co-leader of GRF’s women’s initiative, Women on the Move, Ms. Boland leverages years of informally mentoring the firm’s new mothers and mothers-to-be. A working mother herself, she navigated the industry with few role models for balancing professional goals with family responsibilities. She pioneered remote work practices for women at the firm, allowing her to prioritize the needs of her family while also providing exceptional service to her clients.
Ms. Boland was recently appointed to a one-year term on the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA) Women’s Initiatives Executive Committee (WIEC). The committee’s mission is to promote and support the success of women to advance the profession together.
