Annual event takes place Nov. 13 – 19, 2022 worldwide
GRF is an official supporter of International Fraud Awareness Week, November 13-19, 2022, to promote anti-fraud awareness and education. During Fraud Week, official supporters will engage in various activities to raise awareness. GRF is hosting a free online webinar, “Enhance Fraud Mitigation Through Internal Audits,” on November 16. GRF’s fraud, internal audit, and cybersecurity experts will cover common fraud schemes, ways to protect your organization, and emerging technologies available to reduce risk. Throughout the week, GRF will also distribute helpful tools and information to assist organizations in identifying and preventing fraud.
Fraud is a serious concern worldwide, costing organizations an estimated 5 percent of their annual revenues – not including indirect losses such as lost productivity, reputational damage, and the related future loss of business. The data comes from the latest AFCE study, Occupational Fraud 2022: A Report to the Nations, which analyzed 2,110 occupational fraud cases that resulted in a total loss of more than $3.6 billion.
The movement, known commonly as Fraud Week, champions the need to proactively fight fraud and help safeguard business and investments from the growing fraud problem. GRF joins hundreds of organizations that have partnered with the ACFE, the world’s largest anti-fraud organization and premier provider of anti-fraud training and education, for the yearly Fraud Week campaign.
“Fraud is an issue that affects people around the world and it takes many forms,” said ACFE president and CEO Bruce Dorris, J.D., CFE, CPA, adding that the support of organizations worldwide helps make Fraud Week an effective tool in raising anti-fraud awareness. “The new operating environments as a result of the pandemic have caused growing fraud concerns,” noted Melissa Musser, Partner and Director of GRF’s Risk & Advisory Services. “Internal audits are one way of reducing fraud. They not only assist in detecting fraudulent activity, but they have the added benefit of enhancing risk management programs and continuous process improvement.”
