Mel Wernert, CPA

Biography

Mel Wernert is an accomplished professional with more than 20 years’ experience in tax management. A manager in GRF’s tax team, she specializes in delivering high-quality tax service and advice, managing teams of tax professionals, and ensuring timely delivery of projects through effective communications with clients and team members. Mel is known for commitment to excellence, continuous learning, and effective team management.

Prior to joining GRF, Ms. Wernert was a corporate tax manager at a Big 4 accounting firm, where she provided tax preparation and review services to large corporations and partnerships. She has also served in various tax advisory roles for another major public accounting firm, where she maintained a book of business with over 300 clients, reviewed all types of tax returns, assisted clients with tax planning, and ensured clear communication between clients, staff, seniors, and partners.

In addition to her tax advisory expertise, Ms. Wernert has held positions at State of Alaska, Division of Legislative Audit, where she evaluated state agencies and programs for efficiency, compliance, and effectiveness.
